Have your cake and eat it too!!

Since today was General Conference we just had a couple of friends over to grill meat, watch the second session and eat cake :) Lots of fun! Natters was very lady-like about it for a few minutes and then she started to dig in.

This is her Godfather pic :) I totally love that her hair is now styled with cake and sticking up on the one side.

Forget the manners.... Give me cake!

This is her "matter-of-fact" face that she makes a lot. I love it!

Almost clean with a tummy full of cake :)

General Conference Basket

So I am in no way a stellar Visiting Teacher but this idea gave me a way to remind my Ladies that they are loved and thought of. I put a little basket together (everything from Dollar Tree - my fav) with treats, a drink, some suckers, a notebook with pen and pencil and a conference packet with activities and ways to remember what touched you.

All my Ladies loved their baskets and I felt great that I did something for them. I think that this will have to be a tradition for the future.

An Egg-cellent Time

This morning the kiddos and I went to an egg hunt at Fairfax High School that was sponsored by Chick-fil-A; like my favorite place ever (now you have to say that last part in valley girl slang).

I really liked that they roped off the field and only let certain age groups go at a time and then "re-set" the field. The kids and I had been shut up all week since they had been sick and Lewis was in Atlanta. It felt so great to be outside and we all had a BLAST!

Katie flexing her muscles for the camera.

Oh, yeah and for those that didn't remember today is is Monkey's first birthday! Can you believe that my sweet chunk is a year already? I can't!

There were a few races between age groups with the Bunny and the Cows and the Bunny won every time (Duh its Easter:)

The pics weren't great because the light was so bright but we all had a great time and then went to go get Lewis from the airport. and of course at Moe's (Welcome to Moe's). The day was so beautiful and we had a lot of fun.

Just "like" Spring

Last Saturday it looked so great outside that we thought that we would all go and play outside while Lewis mowed the grass. Once we got outside it was chilly. Monkey was only outside long enough to take pics and then we went inside.

I loved this picture. It was like Natalie was saying "Yeah, Baby!! I'm in charge here!"

Loved these two. You can also see some of her many teeth in this shot.

Shirts for Monkey

These are the new shirts (and only projects that I got to over Spring Break) that I made for Natters. A Peeps shirt for the egg hunt and then one for her party :)

The color is slightly off in this pic but it showed the details in the yellow. The colors are not so dark.

1st Annual FIGG's Pinkwood Derby

I am one of the leaders for Faith in God for Girls in our ward and last night we had a Pinkwood Derby. The girls were to build their cars with their Moms and there were no rules other than nothing could catch on fire.
This picture was all the girls that came on time. We ended up with about 13 girls.

Ashley's car was #12. We had a lot of fun with it. The fun part of no rules was the constant adding of weight during the race. Ashley added a piece of a 2x4 (that was Lewis' idea) and then my cell and Lewis' cell were added.

Ashley won the "Best Use of Materials" award.

It was so great that the families came and supported the girls. All the Dads helped with judging and it was a BLAST. On the way out the girls mobbed me and wanted to make sure that this activity was a yearly event.

Stuffed Van *Only 89 boxes & 6 32gal bags of Paper*

So this morning I went and picked up some boxes from craigslist. I got there and thought that I would have to make two trips. But an hour later anther military wife and I had forced everything into the van. I will update this post later on exactly how many boxes there were in there.

Behind the box filled with paper there are many more boxes all stacked together.

What do you get ...

...When you mix a seriously cute t-shirt from the clearance rack at Target and fabric from your stash?

This seriously cute dress. I have been so into these t-shirt dresses lately. I think they are adorable and I can make them out of cheapie t-shirts and fabric that I already have.

These two have already been worn and washed and I must say that they washed pretty nice. The one with the butterflies was the first one that I made and even though I love it I think that I will stick with the bands at the bottom of the skirt rather than the ruffle. I am surprised that I still have hair after that little green ruffle.

Next up will be some finishing touches on baby crafts, Easter skirts/dresses for the girls and then a new handbag. I think that there will be a lot more craftiness on this blog as it tends to de-stress me, and boy is the stress going to be coming in waves :)

Happy St. Patty's Day - Craft

My sweet Kattie Bear came home from school yesterday insisting that she needed a St. Patrick's Day shirt. She didn't have just a green one, so I (being inspired by the many crafty and quilting blogs that I frequent) decided to re-purpose a shirt for her.

I used the fabric from some old tanks for the circle and clover.

I think that it came out cute and she totally loves it!

A Love of Music

This is Natalie's piano. We got it at a consignment shop for $7. She totally loves it. She will sit and play for a long time and then she also pushes it and uses it to get around :) I tried to get a picture of her looking at me but she refused.

Now if we can just get her to let go and walk on her own:)

Everything is OK!

Not too much is known about the impending move this summer; but we got the first clue this morning. We will be going to Enid, Oklahoma. That's right get the Rodger's and Hammerstein going in your head (I know I have been singing all day).

11 Months...

My sweet little Monkey is almost 1. I can hardly stand it. I got these shots of her tonight when she was standing with Lewis in the kitchen. I think that the top one is the money shot:)

Finally!! :)

What is that? Am I laying on a new quilt? (love that curly new growth from when all my hair fell out?!) I AM!!! I am so excited to announce that I finished my quilt for my bed. I started it in NM and then decided a couple of weeks ago that it would not leave VA unless it was finished. So late on Friday night I finished the last of the binding.

This pillow was a small side project that I completed during the blizzard.

It is nothing grand just a strip quilt but it is done :) I am so excited. It is the only blanket that we have that properly fits our bed since it is an odd size (Olympic Queen).
