1st Annual FIGG's Pinkwood Derby

I am one of the leaders for Faith in God for Girls in our ward and last night we had a Pinkwood Derby. The girls were to build their cars with their Moms and there were no rules other than nothing could catch on fire.
This picture was all the girls that came on time. We ended up with about 13 girls.

Ashley's car was #12. We had a lot of fun with it. The fun part of no rules was the constant adding of weight during the race. Ashley added a piece of a 2x4 (that was Lewis' idea) and then my cell and Lewis' cell were added.

Ashley won the "Best Use of Materials" award.

It was so great that the families came and supported the girls. All the Dads helped with judging and it was a BLAST. On the way out the girls mobbed me and wanted to make sure that this activity was a yearly event.

Stuffed Van *Only 89 boxes & 6 32gal bags of Paper*

So this morning I went and picked up some boxes from craigslist. I got there and thought that I would have to make two trips. But an hour later anther military wife and I had forced everything into the van. I will update this post later on exactly how many boxes there were in there.

Behind the box filled with paper there are many more boxes all stacked together.

What do you get ...

...When you mix a seriously cute t-shirt from the clearance rack at Target and fabric from your stash?

This seriously cute dress. I have been so into these t-shirt dresses lately. I think they are adorable and I can make them out of cheapie t-shirts and fabric that I already have.

These two have already been worn and washed and I must say that they washed pretty nice. The one with the butterflies was the first one that I made and even though I love it I think that I will stick with the bands at the bottom of the skirt rather than the ruffle. I am surprised that I still have hair after that little green ruffle.

Next up will be some finishing touches on baby crafts, Easter skirts/dresses for the girls and then a new handbag. I think that there will be a lot more craftiness on this blog as it tends to de-stress me, and boy is the stress going to be coming in waves :)

Happy St. Patty's Day - Craft

My sweet Kattie Bear came home from school yesterday insisting that she needed a St. Patrick's Day shirt. She didn't have just a green one, so I (being inspired by the many crafty and quilting blogs that I frequent) decided to re-purpose a shirt for her.

I used the fabric from some old tanks for the circle and clover.

I think that it came out cute and she totally loves it!

A Love of Music

This is Natalie's piano. We got it at a consignment shop for $7. She totally loves it. She will sit and play for a long time and then she also pushes it and uses it to get around :) I tried to get a picture of her looking at me but she refused.

Now if we can just get her to let go and walk on her own:)

Everything is OK!

Not too much is known about the impending move this summer; but we got the first clue this morning. We will be going to Enid, Oklahoma. That's right get the Rodger's and Hammerstein going in your head (I know I have been singing all day).

11 Months...

My sweet little Monkey is almost 1. I can hardly stand it. I got these shots of her tonight when she was standing with Lewis in the kitchen. I think that the top one is the money shot:)

Finally!! :)

What is that? Am I laying on a new quilt? (love that curly new growth from when all my hair fell out?!) I AM!!! I am so excited to announce that I finished my quilt for my bed. I started it in NM and then decided a couple of weeks ago that it would not leave VA unless it was finished. So late on Friday night I finished the last of the binding.

This pillow was a small side project that I completed during the blizzard.

It is nothing grand just a strip quilt but it is done :) I am so excited. It is the only blanket that we have that properly fits our bed since it is an odd size (Olympic Queen).
